Ruford L. Whitaker,76, owner of the Five Point barbershop has been at the same location for fifty two years, the corner of Palace and Vance, in the former "the Five Point" section of Tyler. During this time he has witnessed, the blooming of the African-American community, desgregation and the integration of schools in Smith County, the Civil Rights Movement,Voter registration and transformation of the community.
